Musicians Wanted - French Horn, Cello, Double Bass, Violin, Viola, Keyboards!!

Musician Requirements: Reliable, able to attend most rehearsals and concert dates. Must be friendly, easy-going and open to playing original compositions. Initiative and drive required in order to play in a small chamber orchestra with a minimum number of rehearsals.

Keyboardist Requirements: Preferably 18 years & over. You must be reliable and have your own synthesizer with string sound emulating that of the violin, viola, cello and/or double bass - also pizzicato strings sound. (The violin, viola, cello & double bass music part will be played by one hand). Must be able to bring synth to rehearsals & concerts along with an extension cord and synth amp (if you have one). For those under 18 years of age, we are happy to have you on board, provided you are reliable.

Playing Standard: AMEB Grade 5 & above (or close to).

Ensemble Musicians: Flute, Oboe, French Horn, Violin1, Violin2, Viola, Cello, Double Bass & Piano.

Concerts: MWCO plays in non-paying small private concerts, community concerts & various musical society's concerts, for interest, fun and experience. There are 1 to 4 concerts per year at various venues around the Eastern suburbs of Melbourne.

Rehearsal Venue: .



There are 4-5 rehearsals per year, spread over 4-5 months.

No weekly rehearsals.

MW's Chamber Orchestra

MWCO is a small chamber ensemble based in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne, Australia. Our conductor is Leila Marimuthu. Many years ago, she conducted Engineering Music Society (EMS) at University of Melbourne for one season.

The MWCO play original music as well as a repertoire including JS Bach's well-known Brandenburg Concertos.

Canterbury Girls' Secondary College, Performing Arts Building located on Mangarra Road, Canterbury.

The p
erforming Arts building is at the end of Irilbarra Road on the road bend and is adjoining to the school hall, right next to the canteen.

In 2006, MWCO performed two original compositions by Melbourne-based piano teacher, composer and musician Michelle W titled "The Valley" and "Season Changes". The latter having also been selected as Melbourne's Channel 31 station theme between 1998-2000.

MWCO also performed Bach's Brandenburg Concerto No 5.

Werribee Chamber Orchestra (WCO) is another chamber ensemble organised by Michelle, offering opportunities to musicians in Werribee & the surrounding Western suburbs. WCO is not part of MW's Chamber Orchestra (MWCO).
